The series is designed to develop supervisory skills over time for a cohort of supervisors who learn to lead together, share suggestions and successes and use an empowerment approach to leading their team.

Each module builds upon the learning from the prior class to develop highly proficient leaders over the course of 6-12 months.”

 

    • Personal Accountability/Transitioning to a Leadership Role

    This module, delivered in a high-energy, interactive environment sets the groundwork for the participants to acknowledge the effect that the supervisory role can have on employee morale and organizational effectiveness. Participants are lead through a natural progression: identifying essential supervisory competencies necessary for success; evaluating their individual strengths and opportunities for development; identifying legal considerations for supervisors; defining the role of vision in leadership and discussing methods for motivating others. Participants will create an Action Plan and Performance Plan for use in their professional and personal development.

     

    • Customer Service: it’s everything you do!

    In reality goods and services are not sold, they are purchased by the customer. Leaders in today’s rapidly changing world have determined that catchy advertising campaigns have limited value. Whether it is a business, a professional practice, a health care facility or a government agency, success comes to organizations that are passionate about their customers.

    • Time Management/Personal Productivity

    Time management has a direct link to the bottom line of any company. Effective time management is essential to success. The most successful organizations in the 21st century require employees to be effective time managers who know how to set and reach goals based on the organization’s vision, mission and values. Each participant will set professional goals to guide the use of time and create a systematic approach to managing daily events.

    • Communication Skills for Supervisors and Managers

    A great leader inspires others to find confidence in themselves. Supervisors play a key role in any organization. They are responsible for creating a link between upper management and front-line employees, and they have dramatic impact on employee performance and behavior. By the end of this module, participants will understand the importance of recognizing how people’s perceptions and viewpoints differ. It includes developing a deeper understanding of basic face-to-face communication, ways to improve the skill of listening and improve active listening. Additionally, they will be taught how to analyze the difference between one-way and two-way communication and utilize these two forms to help them become better communicators.

    • Managing Your Team and The Power of Trust :
           Why You Need it and How to Keep it

    When trust is absent, relationships are characterized by an adversarial attitude: me vs. you; us vs. them. Rather than goodwill, there are deep and hidden animosities. Respect is lost and our performance is compromised as our energies go into manipulation and protection rather than working together towards a shared vision. We believe that the most successful organizations of the 21st century will be those that know how to create a climate of trust and goodwill among their employees. In this module, participants will learn how to create the climate of trust in their department and interact with others in ways that build trust and win-win outcomes.

    • Building Your Team/High Payoff Hiring

    Have you ever found the “perfect” candidate during an interview who turned out to be the wrong person for the job? Imagine if you could ensure that the person sitting across from you in an interview would actually be one of your top performing employees. The ability to hire the right people is extremely important to the health and profitability of any organization and is a skill each supervisor must develop to ensure continued and future success of the team.

    • Managing a Diverse Work force and Communication Between Generations

    The uniqueness of each individual is what brings strength to a team. Individual differences in the workplace must be sought after, nurtured and respected. Successful organizations understand this and use it to their competitive advantage. In this module we discuss how to coach workers not only to respect their colleagues and traits each individual possesses, but also to seek out those co-workers as team members. Participants will discover the foundation for understanding diversity and developing skills for working in environments and groups composed of diverse individuals. The leader will cover a wide range of topics including issues of race, gender, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, and physical ability in the workplace.

    • Conflict, Controversy and Confrontation: Managing Conflict on Your Team

    To stay competitive, high performance organizations know they must effectively manage workplace conflicts that threaten employee productivity and morale. This module will motivate supervisors to set goals and define actions for developing and enhancing their current conflict management abilities. It will set the groundwork for participants to acknowledge the impact that conflict can have on their job performance and the positive effect that learning to manage organizational conflict can have on an organization’s bottom line. During this module, supervisors will develop the ability to identify causes of organizational conflict, identify difficult people and take ownership of conflict management.

    • Change Management

    Change is a constant challenging part of the workplace environment. The ability to adapt to a changing environment is a hallmark of a successful organization. Leaders need to be aware of their attitudes toward, and abilities for, leading others through organizational change. In this module supervisors will learn: the role of a leader during change, how to help others manage change, how to be a change leader.

    • Dealing with Difficult Employees: Harnessing Harmful Behavior

    Every supervisor must, from time to time, manage harmful, inappropriate or unproductive behavior. This is a particularly difficult challenge for new supervisors or supervisors now leading former coworkers. In this module, supervisors will learn to confront behavior that fails to meet expectations, understand the importance of discipline and conformity in building trust, develop a set of non-negotiables for those whom you lead and practice the skill of harnessing harmful behavior.

    • Committing to Integrity:
      Defining Your Own Ethical Principles and Applying Them

    Personal and professional integrity does not happen by accident. It is shaped by the events and circumstances of our lives. Each moment of our life provides an opportunity to expand our vision and assume full responsibility for living, growing and contributing. Participants in this workshop will develop an understanding of the process of self-mastery, including the four different paradigms from which people live and the core beliefs of each paradigm. They will develop a new definition of success based upon their own personal paradigm.
